Accounting
Invoices, payments, journal entries, financial reports, tax and assets.
Overview
Accounting is where every company movement becomes numbers: customer and supplier invoices, collections and payments, expenses, stock and assets. Most entries are written by the system from the documents; you review them and run the reports.
How documents become entries
- A posted sales invoice: customer account to sales and output VAT.
- Delivering the goods (validating the delivery): inventory to cost of goods sold at cost.
- A posted purchase bill: goods received and input VAT to the supplier account. Receiving the goods moves them from goods received to inventory.
- Collections and payments: between the bank or cash account and the customer or supplier account.
- An expense: expense account and input VAT to the party.
- A fixed asset: a monthly depreciation entry from depreciation expense to accumulated depreciation.
- A POS session: sales, payment and cost entries when the session closes.
Documents and entries have two stages: Draft, which can be edited and stays out of the reports (reports show "Posted entries" by default), then Posted after you press Post. To edit a posted document again, use Reset to draft.
